There are both mental and physical benefits to practicing yoga, including:

Greater Strength, Muscle Tone and Posture: Yoga requires you to support the weight of your own body in new ways, building strength and muscle tone

Increase Flexibility: Stretching your body in new ways will help it to become more flexible, bringing greater range of motion to muscles and joints.

High Detoxification:  Yoga increases blood flow throughout the body, including areas that do not get that much, compressing poses, deep stretches and perspiration allows for the body to excrete toxins.

Stronger Breathing: Yoga breathing exercises helps us to be more conscious of our breathhow to better use our lungs, which benefits the entire body. Certain types of breath can also help clear the nasal passages and even calm the central nervous system, which has both physical and mental benefits.

Mental Calm: Yoga asana practice is intensely physical. Concentrating so intently on what your body is doing has the effect of bringing calmness to the mind. Yoga also introduces you to meditation techniques, such as watching how you breathe and disengagement from your thoughts, which help calm the mind.

Increased Focus:  The focus required in a yoga practice has an effect on focus outside of practice, at work or at home doing everyday activities.
